ARCHIVED - Where to find the cheapest petrol and diesel prices in Alicante
Here are five of the least expensive places to fill up in Alicante city at the moment
The price of petrol and diesel in Alicante and rest of Spain is skyrocketing with forecourt prices at their highest levels in seven years.
During the initial months of the pandemic and confinement, consumption of fuel dropped by 80 per cent, but filling up the tank has become notably more expensive over the last 12 months. And according to experts, demand for oil is expected to increase as economic activity recovers which will push up wholesale fuel prices, costs which are likely to be felt at the pumps.
Meanwhile, drivers, along with the service station employers' association, are calling on the Spanish government to lower VAT in order to save money when refueling, in light of the fact the cost of a litre of petrol or diesel has risen by between 20 and 45 cents in a year.
Gasoline 95 currently has an average price of 1.43 euros per litre compared to May of last year when it cost 1.08 euros. In Alicante city, the cheapest petrol stations are (according to data from the Ministry of Ecological Transition):

- VCC Alicante - Avenida de Novelda: €1.21
- Petropix - Avenida de Elche: €1.22
- Alcampo - Avenida Antonio Ramos Carratalá: €1.23
