Weather alert extended into Thursday as rain refuses to let up
The persistent rainfall across the whole of Murcia has prompted the yellow alert to be extended for another day

The Region of Murcia continues to experience persistent rainfall, leading the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) to extend its yellow alert for the entire Community until the morning of Thursday March 6.
Accumulated rainfall of up to 80 millimetres over 12 hours is expected in several regions, and the warnings for heavy rain will be active until 6am on Thursday.
According to sources from the Emergency Coordination Centre, the yellow warning for rainfall, which could reach an accumulated 20 millimetres in an hour, will be active in the Northwest, Vega del Segura, Valle del Guadalentín, Lorca, Águilas, the Campo de Cartagena and Mazarrón.
People in all these areas are advised to remain vigilant, particularly in flood-prone areas, and to follow any recommendations issued by local authorities. Do not go outside when there is torrential rain unless absolutely necessary and unavoidable, and try not to drive, especially not near or in rambla waterways.
Emergency services remain on standby across Murcia to respond to any incidents resulting from the heavy rainfall.
