WATCH VIDEO: Anti-terrorism raid causes panic in Zenia Boulevard Shopping Centre, Alicante
Shoppers were stunned when teams of armed guards swarmed the Orihuela Costa commercial centre
Orihuela Costa residents were sent into a tailspin on Wednesday November 15 when several Guardia Civil jeeps screeched to a halt outside Zenia Boulevard Commercial Centre at 9am and dozens of armed guards sped up the steps into the shopping centre.
The shopping centre wasn’t yet open, but plenty of people were milling around and passengers sitting on the bus outside the back doors were left in something of a daze as the drama unfolded.

Videos flooded social media with users wondering if the Guardia Civil had been called to Zenia Boulevard in response to a terrorist attack.
However, Orihuela Local Police were quick to dampen the panic on ‘X’, reassuring residents that the operation was simply a training drill.
"If you see this in Zenia Boulevard, don't be scared, it is a terrorism drill," they said in the statement.
