Video of woman walking a pigeon ruffles the internet’s feathers

People around the world have been seen taking all manner of unusual animals for a walk, including cats, pigs, goats, donkeys, kangaroos and even giant lizards, amongst others.

However, a video of a young woman walking a pigeon on a lead, which was taken in Torrevieja a few days ago, has garnered over 400,000 views.

The town has already grabbed the headlines recently for the council’s ongoing efforts to rid the streets of stray chickens, but this particular bird seems to be a faithful, feathered friend.

The video was posted on TikTok by a user called @nadiaromeroo_, who entitled her unusual encounter: “When your dog is busy and you’re left with just the pigeon”.

It has prompted comments from almost 1,000 others, which range from humorous to more serious reactions.

Some were critical and claimed that it was cruel, but a few have noticed that the pigeon seems to be missing a wing, venturing that it may have been rescued and gets taken for a walk because it is unable to fly.

Maybe the bird just doesn’t leave its human companion’s side because it has “coo-dependency” issues.

Certainly the pigeon in question appears content enough to be strutting its stuff and stopping for occasional snack breaks.

Nevertheless, it is unclear whether the woman walking it brought bags to pick up her peculiar pet’s poo.

And if you didn’t believe us about donkeys, this one is apparently called Lola and a regular sight around Orihuela Costa…
