Avenida de Murcia in Jumilla turned red on Thursday March 23 as stunned onlookers watched an enormous wine vat explode, flooding the García Carrión property with litres of red wine.

The expensive accident occurred at a very unusual time, since it is still well before harvest when the winery would be operating at full tilt. However, the García Carrión factory produces the well-known Don Simón brand and supplies wine all over Spain and the rest of Europe, being particularly popular in France.

The winery has operations in different regions of the country but it was first established in Jumilla. With a history of more than 130 years, it has passed through the hands of five generations, has prestigious wines in 10 Denominations of Origin and is sold in 150 countries around the world.
