These stores and shopping centres are open this September 13 in the Region of Murcia
Here’s where you can shop in the Region of Murcia this Sunday despite it being a normal rest day

September can be an expensive month, particularly for families getting children ready to go back to school. Books, uniforms, shoes, bags and school supplies can quickly add up, while the return from the summer holidays often leaves little time for getting everything organised.
That makes this Sunday September 13, particularly useful for anyone who can't get to the shops during the week.
The date is one of the Region of Murcia's designated festivos de libre apertura. These are special Sundays and public holidays when shops are authorised to open even though they would normally be closed.
The dates are chosen each year by the regional government, with some falling during periods when retailers expect more demand from shoppers and tourists.
So, which shops and shopping centres will be open across the Region of Murcia this Sunday September 13?
Stores
El Corte Inglés stores in Murcia and Cartagena will open from 11am to 9pm.
Ikea Murcia will be open from 11am to 8pm.
Leroy Merlin will open its Murcia stores from 10am to 10pm. Opening times can vary between branches, however, and the Lorca store will be closed.
MediaMarkt will remain closed according to its published opening information.
Shopping centres
Nueva Condomina will have its shops, restaurants and leisure facilities open during their usual hours.
Thader will also open, with all its shops operating as normal.
At La Noria Outlet, both the shops and restaurants will be open, although Mercadona will remain closed.
Atalayas will also open its doors on Sunday.
Dos Mares is open 365 days a year apart from January 1 and December 25, when only its leisure and dining areas operate. Its shops will therefore be open this Sunday.
Espacio Mediterráneo will also be open, as its calendar allows trading throughout the year apart from December 25, January 1 and January 6.
Parque Almenara, however, will be closed on September 13.
Supermarkets
Mercadona will not open any of its Region of Murcia stores this Sunday.
Lidl will open some stores, although opening varies between municipalities, so it's worth checking your local branch before setting off.
Carrefour hypermarkets in Murcia city will be open, while stores in other municipalities will remain closed.
Alcampo will be open during its usual hours at Thader.
Aldi stores in Murcia will have special opening hours from 10am to 8pm. Opening times can vary elsewhere in the Region, so check your local store before travelling.

Murcia’s second biggest centro comercial has more than just shopping – it’s everything you could want from a day out!

Parque Almenara is one of the largest retail and leisure malls in the Lorca and Águilas area, offering the full ‘all under one roof’ shopping experience, except it is open to the elements!
It has all your favourite brands and shops like Stradivarius and Mango, spread out over two easily accessed levels. There is also a Carrefour, plus larger retail units for electrical products and home and garden goods.
Unlike other shopping centres, Parque Almenara is a shopping mall where the stores are located in a network of streets, like a whole shopping village that covers almost 150,000m2, making it the second largest shopping centre in the Region of Murcia. One of the most striking features of Parque Almenara is its three canvas tents suspended 20 metres above the outdoor area, creating a shaded zone and an oasis of calm right in the middle of the mall.
As well as the opportunity for a day’s retail therapy, Parque Almenara also offers the makings of good night out. There is a 10-pin bowling alley with 20 lanes and an entertainment complex, plus a multiscreen cinema with ten screens showing the latest offerings from Hollywood and the best 3D movies, and even original version English-language films. And with no fewer than eight separate options to grab a bite to eat at the food court, you can stay at the Parque Almenara all day if you want to!
You can even take your dog along with you as pets are allowed into the mall, an animal-friendly place.
How to get there
Parque Almenara is located on the Lorca–Águilas road C-3211 at km 1.9. On a GPS, the coordinates to put in are: N 37º 63´ W -1º 69´
If you’re going by bus, there is a direct bus route that leaves from Apolonia.
