ARCHIVED - WATCH: incredible footage of a man bursting through the flames of deadly Spanish wildfire
The “hero of Tábara” was almost engulfed in flames as he tried to quench the enormous blaze
Terrifying footage has emerged from the town of Tábara in Zamora, an area badly affected by the Losacio forest fire, of a 53-year-old man sprinting for his life through the inferno with his clothes up in flames.
The images, recorded by a person standing nearby, show a landscape totally engulfed in flames and the silhouette of a machine attempting to douse the fields with water, until it disappears behind the wall of fire and smoke and a small figure emerges.

His name is Ángel Martín and locals are already calling him the “hero of Tábara” as he risked his own life to save the town from burning.
According to local sources, Mr Martín’s machinery caught fire when the direction of the wind changed suddenly; he leapt away from the equipment and fled to safety with flames licking his clothing.
The staggering July heatwave, the second of the year, has resulted in the worst summer for wildfires in a decade, with widespread damage reported across Alicante, Murcia and the rest of Spain.
The local hero was transferred to the Burn Unit of Rio Hortega University Hospital in Valladolid where he is being treated for serious injuries.
The Losacio wildfire has already killed two people and another is still missing, while more than 10,000 hectares of land has been burned.
