Walking and hiking paths in Águilas improved with new signposting
The Town Hall of Águilas encourages healthy exercise among both locals and visitors!
The town council of Águilas is always commendably quick on opportunities to increase the attractiveness of the area in the eyes not only of the locals but also of visitors and tourists, and with more and more people taking up walking as a healthy pastime another campaign has just ended to restore an improve rural and coastal paths between the coastline and inland districts.
Some ten paths have been targeted, including the SL-MU18 of the “Cuatro Calas”, the SL-MU23 in Marina de Cope, the PR-MU104 in Cabo Cope, the PR-MU 117 between Cuesta de Gos and Los Mayorales, the GR 92 Camino del Mediterráneo and the Blue Trails of Los Cocedores and Tres Bahías. Along all of these new signposts and information panels have been installed, increasing both the attractiveness and safety of the routes as well as raising environmental awareness and an appreciation of biodiversity.
The new furniture includes four large vinyl panels, 26 smaller boards and numerous arrow and directions signs.

Águilas boasts 28 kilometres of coastline, with many fine, sandy beaches, sheltered coves and unspoilt natural beaches. It is a great summer favourite with Spanish holidaymakers, so always has a superb programme of concerts and activities throughout the summer, as well as the biggest carnival in the Region of Murcia, 40 days before Semana Santa (Easter.)
Throughout the year it also has a number of museums and historical attractions, a castle with fabulous views overlooking the bay and several other points of interest, all of which make it an good place to visit for days out. Throughout the year the tourist office runs monthly guided tours and the route of the railways, which explores the railway history of the town.
The tourist information office is located in the Plaza de Antonio Cortijos, just a short walk from the sea front and Plaza de España, a cool, shaded space in which to enjoy a coffee.
