ARCHIVED - Villajoyosa opens its accessible beach service for people with reduced mobility
The town centre beach in the basseta de l'Oli area of Villajoyosa is equipped with a ramp, walkway and handrail

Villajoyosa in the Marina Baixa area of Alicante province has launched its accessible beach service for people with reduced mobility at the town centre playa in the basseta de l'Oli area.
The stretch of coastline has an access ramp along with safety handrails and a walkway to the seashore. In addition, there's a shower and adapted toilets, changing rooms, amphibious chairs, a shaded area and aquatic-terrestrial chairs for people who want to bathe.
During June and September, the service is available daily from 10am to 2pm and 4pm to 7pm. In July and August, users can make the most of the facilities daily from 10am to 7pm, with the exception of the 27th to 29th when pyrotechnics are scheduled to be fired from the beach.
The accessible beach service is staffed by experienced monitors from the company awarded the contract, DYA, who will accompany users throughout, both out of the water and during bathing.
And to make it even easier to use the service, free Accessible Beach Transport can be requested in advance at the Department of Social Welfare office located in the Llar del Pensionista (Pensioners' Centre).
"We are excited to be able to launch this extended service and would like to encourage all potential users to make the most of the adapted facilities," said Villajoyosa's Councillor for Social Welfare, Asun Llore.
