ARCHIVED - Valencia region plans to break vaccination record this week
More than 406,000 doses will be administered across the provinces of Alicante, Valencia and Castellon.
The Valencian Community will break a new vaccination record this week with plans to administer a total of 406,575 doses of the various coronavirus vaccines.
Last week, 351,000 jabs were administered, which was the highest number since the vaccination campaign began last December.
The surge in vaccinations from today (Monday, June 7) will mean that by the end of the week, more than three million immunisations will have been carried out, and a million people will have received both jabs.
According to the regional health department, 283,203 Pfizer vaccines, 42,692 Moderna, 43,516 Astrazeneca and 37,164 Janssen jabs will be administered over the next few days.
The majority of the Pfizer vaccine will be used to immunise 40 to 59 year-olds (those born between 1962 and 1981), a further 13,000 will be allocated to people over 66 years-old and the rest set aside for health professionals.
Similarly, 41,000 Moderna doses are destined for people between 40 and 59 years-old, as will 36,000 doses of the Janssen vaccine.
And most of the AstraZeneca supply will be used to immunise people under the age of 60.
The vaccination campaign in Valencia region has progressed to the point where the immunisation of 40 to 49 year-olds also begins this week - 10 days ahead of schedule - with SMS messages sent to this particular age group over the weekend.
