Until September 13 Seahorse sculptures in Cabo de Palos
20 colourful structures alongside the fishing port of Cabo de Palos
An unusual collection of 20 colourful sculptures of seahorses can be seen in Cabo de Palos during the first half of September, adorning the Paseo Dimas Ortega alongside the fishing port and marina.
The sculptures are part of the “El Aventurero de Mar”, which was officially opened on 1st September by Noelia Arroyo, the Mayoress of Cartagena, and the artists who created them. It is foreseen that the exhibition will at some point move on to the port in Cartagena itself.
According to the Mayoress, the exhibition is a special one because seahorses have long been one of the most representative species of the fragile marine environment of the Mar Menor, to the extent where the curious animal has become one of the emblems of the campaign to save that environment.
