ARCHIVED - Under 2,000 active cases in the Valencia region for the first time in months: Alicante Covid update May 11
99 new cases in the region of Valencia and 22 in the province of Alicante
The official update published on May 11 by the regional government reports 99 new coronavirus cases in the region of Valencia and 22 in the province of Alicante, as well as a further 42,780 Covid vaccines, which have been administered in the province.
The number of people hospitalized in Alicante is slowly declining and the figure currently stands at 46 Covid patients, eight of whom are in intensive care. Tuesday’s official update also reported six Covid-related deaths in the region, of which four were in the province of Alicante.
Meanwhile, the vaccination campaign continues to advance in the region of Valencia and the health authorities plan to administer 188,370 doses of the Pfizer vaccine, 32,800 of the Moderna and 14,700 doses of Janssen this week in the region: 235,870 in total.
The Valencian regional health authorities have administered a total of 2,038,019 coronavirus vaccines to date; 238.091 in Castellón province, 749.115 in Alicante province and 1.050.813 in Valencia province. 653,098 people are now fully vaccinated having received either two doses of Pfizer, Moderna or AstraZeneca or a single dose of the monodose Janssen vaccine.
The cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 residents in the past 14 days in the Comunidad Valenciana is decreasing once again and now stands at 34.64. The national rate is also decreasing and is now 180.69.
The Spanish regions with the highest cumulative incidence rates are the Basque Country (387.75), Madrid (291.73) and Aragón (279.83), although the rate is decreasing in most parts of Spain, in spite of fears that the incidence rate of covid may rise again now that the State of Alarm has ended and inter-regional borders have been re-opened.
