ARCHIVED - Two Alicante localities make the top 10 list of hottest places in Spain on Boxing Day
There were two towns in Alicante that topped 24ºC yesterday
Like much of the rest of southern Spain, the province of Alicante on the Mediterranean’s Costa Blanca is experiencing unprecedented temperatures for this time of year, well in excess of 20ºC.
As reported by Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), Elche was the seventh hottest place in the whole country, with thermometers reaching maximums of 24.3ºC, while Novelda was ninth with 24.1ºC.
Murcia capital city also saw plus-24ºC heat, while the hottest place in the country was El Ejido (Almeria), with highs of 25.8ºC.
As for the rest of the week, the weather in Alicante is forecast to be roughly the same, with sunny skies and uncharacteristically warm temperatures.
