ARCHIVED - Traditional Murcia folk music in the countryside of Aguaderas Lorca: December 5
Several folklore music groups from across the Region of Murcia take part in the event

The XVII Certamen of traditional folklore in Lorca is a get-together of several Cuadrillas from across the Region of Murcia who come together for some friendly rivalry, competing against each other in a battle of verse and wit, but really just enjoying their folk music and traditions.
Cuadrillas are traditional folk groups, who play the music of the country and perform at local fiestas and celebrations, which are usually held in the autumn and winter months.
The event will take place in a little village north of Águilas (Aguaderas), on the Águilas-Lorca road, on Sunday December 5.
This year the participants are: Cuadrilla de Zarzadilla de Totana (Lorca), Cuadrilla de Torreagüera (Murcia), Cuadrilla de Marina de Cope (Águilas) and Cuadrilla de Aguaderas (Lorca).
This year’s programme is as follows:
- 11am: Sung Mass.
- 12pm (noon): ‘Cuadrillas en la calle’, all the cuadrillas set up in the street outside the church, each one with its own space and show.
Basic directions:
From Lorca, take the Carreterra de la Pulgara and without leaving it, after 12km you will arrive at the Hermitage.
If you come from the A7, Autovía, come off at Lorca south and follow in the direction of Águilas.
At kilometre 8, take the exit Camino Velopache, Camino de Servicio and turn to the left. After 200 metres there’s a service station on the right hand side and you’ll see a sign for Campo López and Aguaderas.
There is a crossroads which joins with the D9, Campo López, Mazarrón.
The Ermita el Sacristán is 2 kilometres away.
