ARCHIVED - Toddler tragically drowns after falling into pool in Javea on the Costa Blanca
The child drowned at a private swimming pool in Javea in the Marina Alta, Alicante province.
A 19-month-old girl has drowned after falling into a swimming pool at a house in Javea this afternoon (Wednesday, June 16).
The tragic accident happened at around 12.45pm, according to the Emergency Information and Coordination Centre (CICU) which received a call for assistance after the toddler was pulled from the water unconscious.
A SAMU and an SVB ambulance together with a doctor were immediately sent to the property, where medical teams performed advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers and other stabilisation techniques, but sadly there was nothing they could do to save the little girl.
This is the seventh drowning on the Costa Blanca since mid-May.
Yesterday an 11-year-old child drowned in a Galicia reservoir during a school trip.
