Thunderstorms could interrupt the sunny summer weekend: Alicante weekend weather August 6-9

Most of the Alicante Province is set for another warm and sunny August weekend, although inland areas could see afternoon thunderstorms as temperatures climb to 38°C

The weather across Alicante Province will be mostly settled over the next few days, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures gradually rising as the weekend goes on. While most areas can expect warm summer weather, there is a chance that afternoon thunderstorms could develop over inland parts of the province over the next few days.

Thursday August 6

Thursday will be mostly sunny, although some cloud is expected during the early morning and again overnight. Temperatures will be much the same as recent days, reaching around 32°C in Alicante city, 33°C in Dénia and up to 34°C in Elche, Orihuela and Alcoy. 

Winds will be light, becoming southerly and then easterly in the afternoon with some moderate coastal breezes.

Friday August 7

Friday brings another dry and settled day, with any early cloud quickly clearing to leave plenty of sunshine. Temperatures will be similar to Thursday, although inland areas such as Alcoy and Orihuela could reach 35°C. 

Light winds will continue, picking up slightly during the afternoon.

Saturday August 8

Saturday looks set to be the hottest day of the forecast, with temperatures climbing to 38°C in Orihuela and 37°C in Alcoy and Elche. Alicante is expected to reach 34°C, while Dénia could see highs of 36°C.
Most of the province will stay sunny, although cloud is expected to build over the northern inland areas during the afternoon. There is the possibility of thunderstorms developing in these areas later in the day, while coastal areas are expected to stay dry.

Sunday August 9

Sunday will stay mostly sunny, although temperatures will ease back slightly after Saturday's peak. Highs of around 36°C are expected in Orihuela, 35°C in Elche and 33°C in both Alicante and Dénia. Light southerly and south-easterly winds will continue through the afternoon.

Overall, it looks like another typical August weekend across Alicante Province. Most places can expect plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures, with the only real uncertainty being the chance of afternoon thunderstorms over inland areas on Saturday. If you're heading to the coast, conditions should be perfect for the beach, while anyone planning to spend time inland may want to keep an eye on the sky later in the day.
