ARCHIVED - Teulada to widen CV-743 to Moraira with investment of 900,000 euros
The main road connecting Teulada and Moraira in the Marina Alta, Alicante province, will be expanded with three lanes

The busy CV-743 between Teulada and Moraira will be widened with three lanes following an investment of 900,000 euros.
Teulada Moraira Town Hall has reached an agreement with Alicante Provincial Council, which owns the road, to make the stretch wider after the local council acquired the necessary land and agreed to create retaining walls.
The road linking the two towns is seven kilometres long, and the first phase of the works will be carried out in the first kilometre at a cost of 300,000 euros.
"The initial phase will be carried out from the Gabriel Miró roundabout at the Teulada exit for a whole kilometre as this is the section with the most problems and the steepest gradient. There is a slope and the ground needs to be reinforced in order to widen the road," explained the Mayor of Teulada Moraira, Raúl Llobell.
For this reason, retaining walls have to be built. The road carries a lot of heavy traffic, which is why "the extension must be reinforced".
The road improvement will not only involve enlarging the road, but also creating a third lane. "There will be two uphill lanes, as it is a slope, and one downhill lane. This will guarantee the safety of vehicles," added the mayor.
The Town Hall already has the budget after making a credit modification and is drawing up the works dossier in order to put it out to tender as soon as possible.
Once the walls have been built and the land has been prepared, Alicante Provincial Council will undertake the extension work.
"Around 600,000 euros will be paid for by the provincial body", said the mayor, adding: "We are making progress on this important and historically requested project, as it will enable us to guarantee improved safety and links for the residents of Teulada Moraira".
