Tenth dead body found in Valencia tower block fire
Efforts will now switch to trying to determine the cause of the fire and why it spread so quickly
The Spanish city of Valencia had its second official day of mourning this Saturday, February 24, for the fire in a building of 138 homes located in the Campanar neighbourhood.
After another search, the official death toll has once again been raised to 10 people after the body of the last person who was missing was found.
The flames swept through all 14 floors of the building last Thursday within the space of around half an hour. While the building’s flammable cladding has been blamed as a major factor for how deadly it was, there are still no clear hypotheses as to the causes of the fire.
Now that the flames have been extinguished and everybody accounted for, authorities are shifting to focus their efforts on finding out the origin of the fire and why it spread so rapidly.
The inquiry report into the Grenfell Tower fire in London, which reportedly had the same kind of building cladding as the tower block in Valencia, is still not finished.
