Suspect arrested for alleged murder of German woman found in burnt-out Andalucía motorhome
A man has been detained for the killing of a German woman whose body was discovered in a burned-out vehicle on a beach in Cádiz
A 47-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found inside a burnt-out motorhome on a beach in San Roque, Cádiz, earlier this month.
The discovery was made on January 9 when firefighters were called to extinguish a blaze that had completely destroyed the vehicle. The victim was later identified as a German citizen who had recently returned to Spain. The arrest was made as part of Operation Ignis, the investigation launched following the incident.
Authorities believe the suspect met the victim the day before the fire and was travelling with her. The pair took a train to Málaga before continuing their journey by bus to Algeciras. From there, they took a taxi to Cala Sardina beach, where the fire later broke out. Witnesses reported seeing someone fleeing the scene.
Investigators described the incident as “an aggressive act”. Bullet casings and fuel were found near the vehicle, further supporting suspicions of foul play. Following the incident, the alleged perpetrator fled the area and went into hiding in several towns across Cádiz province.
He was eventually tracked down and arrested last Saturday, January 25, in Cádiz. Reports indicate that he had injuries to his hands, believed to be burns caused by the fire.
The Guardia Civil continues to investigate the case to determine the full circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
