Strong wind warnings on Murcia coast this Sunday
The windy and wet conditions will continue into Monday as well

For this Sunday March 9, Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds of up to 50-60kmh and waves of 2-3 metres high all along the coastline of Murcia, all the way from Águilas up to San Pedro del Pinatar.
The yellow-level alert will be active from 10am until 10pm on Sunday, and then again on Monday March 10 from 6pm until midnight. There is the possibility that it will continue beyond that into Tuesday, too.
The official advice from Cartagena City Council during episodes of strong winds is to stay away from beaches and coastal areas due to the danger of being washed away by sudden swells of water. Vehicles should also not be parked in areas which may be affected by the waves.
It is also advisable to tie down or bring inside any belongings that could be blown around and become damaged or cause anyone harm. Cartagena Council also advises avoiding “passing near walls that may collapse or under wooded areas from which branches may fall”. They add that “it is also advisable to limit speed and increase caution while driving”.
All the same, the forecast for this Sunday and Monday, while not exactly dry, is for fairer weather than in the preceding week. There will still be stormy and showery spells on both days and even beyond into next week, especially in the west of the Region of Murcia, but there will also be plenty of sunshine, mostly in the eastern half of the province.
