Seismic swarm in Malaga with a magnitude of up to 3.2 on the Richter scale
Several sizeable earthquakes alarmed residents across the Costa del Sol over the weekend

The province of Malaga was hit by what’s known as a seismic swarm of earthquakes over the weekend, with magnitudes ranging from 2.1 to 3.2 on the Richter scale. While these tremors were in no way unusually strong or concerning, several packed enough punch to be felt by locals.
The most powerful earthquake occurred at 12.50am on Saturday June 7 in the Malaga municipality of Cártama and was felt by dozens of residents, according to the National Geographic Institute (IGN). However, the 112 emergency services did not receive any alert calls, and no injuries or even material damage were reported.
The rest of the smaller earthquakes were concentrated between the Costa del Sol towns of Almogía, Valle de Abdalajís, Álora, Pizarra and Cártama, and began on Friday night between 10pm and midnight.
Earlier in the week, the National Geographic Institute reported that an earthquake with its epicentre in the rural Almería town of Gádor was recorded with a magnitude of 2.5 on the Richter scale at around 11am on Monday June 2.
The quake was felt in various parts of the province of Almería, such as the desert of Tabernas.
