British holidaymaker killed in jet ski crash off Costa del Sol
Spanish police have arrested a boat driver on suspicion of reckless homicide and driving while under the influence

A British woman has died after a tragic collision between a jet ski and a motorboat off the Costa del Sol, prompting Spanish authorities to arrest the driver of the boat.
The accident occurred around 7.25pm on Saturday June 28 off Playa de Los Toros in Manilva (pictured). The 48-year-old British woman was a passenger on a jet ski driven by her partner, part of a small group on the water at the time.
According to the Guardia Civil, the motorboat was being piloted by a friend of the couple, and both vessels were travelling together before the fatal crash.
Emergency services, including maritime rescue teams and medical personnel, were quickly on the scene, but the woman could not be revived and was pronounced dead.
Investigators believe the collision resulted from a reckless manoeuvre made by the motorboat. Witness statements and a reconstruction of the incident led police to conclude that the turn made by the boat caused the crash. The driver, who tested positive for alcohol (though not at a high level) was arrested and later released under investigation.
The case has now been handed to judicial authorities, who will decide on any further legal action.
This latest incident follows a series of watercraft accidents along the southern Spanish coast in recent years, prompting increased patrols to enforce maritime safety.
