ARCHIVED - San Fulgencio celebrates World Breast Cancer Awareness Day: October 19
The Town Hall is joining the worldwide initiative with 'pink ribbon' information points in the Vega Baja, Alicante province
In support of World Breast Cancer Awareness Day on Tuesday October 19, San Fulgencio Council is placing two 'pink ribbon' information points to raise awareness and promote access to timely and effective controls, diagnoses and treatments.
The stands will be located in front of the Town Hall and in Avenida Londres between 10am and 1pm.
According to the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), the majority of breast cancer cases are diagnosed in women aged 35 to 80, with an increased risk in women aged between 45 to 65, and stresses that early detection remains the key element of breast cancer control.
The disease accounts for around a third of female tumors and claimed the lives of 6,213 women in Spain in 2014.
