Ryanair set to carry 625,000 passengers through Corvera Airport this year
The budget airline is expecting to grow by 12% in Murcia this year, pushed by UK and Irish passengers

Ryanair is gearing up for a bumper year at the Region of Murcia International Airport, with the low-cost airline expecting to carry more than 625,000 passengers through Corvera in 2026, a rise of 12% on the year before.
The Irish carrier remains the biggest airline operating out of the airport, currently running eight routes connecting the region with the UK and Ireland this summer. Frequencies are being ramped up on several of those routes too, with more flights added to Birmingham, East Midlands, Glasgow and Manchester as demand continues to grow.
According to the airline, the investment reflects its ongoing commitment to the Region's tourism sector, which it says comes "by attracting international visitors, strengthening connectivity for local residents, and contributing to local employment and businesses."
The announcement coincided with a rather special milestone for the airport itself, which welcomed its three millionth passenger since opening back in 2019.
Ryanair's spokesperson in Spain, Alejandra Ruiz, marked the occasion by saying that "we are delighted to celebrate the 3 million Ryanair passengers who have arrived in the Region since its inception in 2019 and to have been able to surprise one of our customers today on this very special occasion."
The lucky passenger in question had just landed on a flight from London Luton and had no idea they were about to become the star of the day's celebrations.
Juan Francisco Martínez, director of the Murcia Region Tourism Institute, attended the event alongside airport director Carlos San Martín, and was quick to praise Ryanair's role in the region's tourism success.
"Ryanair is a strategic partner for the development of our airport, an essential piece of infrastructure for facilitating the arrival of tourists to our region," he said, adding that "we want to thank the company for its commitment over all these years and continue celebrating milestones like today's with them, which represent the success and popularity of our destination."
Ryanair's presence in the Region goes back much further than Corvera itself, of course. The airline first began flying into the old San Javier airport back in 2003, and in the years since has carried around 13 million passengers to and from the Region of Murcia, making it one of the area's most important links to the UK and Ireland.
