Residential area Las Ramblas Golf Course, Orihuela
A mixture of detached villas and apartment blocks look out across the course
All of the properties on the Las Ramblas course are new or semi-new: as recently as fifteen years ago the course was out in the country, and no living-room windows were in danger from even the wildest drive!
Now there are a mixture of detached villas and apartment blocks, offering a mixture of accommodation, some of which is more suited to residential use, and some for holiday rentals, all well laid out on the windy sloping streets which provide such a stunning backdrop and problematic challenge for the golfers. Almost all properties have views out over the course, thanks to their hillside locations.
La Ramblas is set on spectacular terrain, the higher locations having views out towards the Mediterranean, and the inland landscape serving as a reminder that despite the lush local greenery this is one of the drier areas of the south of Spain.
Shopping and other facilities on Las Ramblas are minimal, but on the way down towards the coast there are various small shopping centres and diverse eating establishments. The nearest of these centres is “La Punta”, a three-minute drive away in the residential area of Villacosta, where there are also banks and a chemists. The nearest medical centre is ten-minutes away in the Aguamarina area on the coast.
This is not an isolated development like some others, where the lack of onsite facilities is a major cause for complaint: in Las Ramblas a short drive is all it takes to reach almost everything you could want, and of course the airports at San Javier and Alicante are only 25 and 45 minutes away respectively.
Visitors would be strongly advised to make sure they have a car at their disposal: there are no regular bus services down to the coast, and golfers will probably want to visit at least one of the other four nearby courses (Campoamor, Villamartín, Las Colinas and Vistabella).
