Puerto de Mazarrón beach reopens after water declared safe for swimming
The green flag has once again been raised following confirmation of excellent water quality, though there are yellow flags at four La Manga beaches

The beach of Puerto de Mazarrón is once again open to the public after the temporary ban on bathing was lifted. The Regional Ministry of Health of the Region of Murcia authorised the hoisting of the green flag this Friday July 4 following the latest water quality results, confirming that the area is now in optimal condition for swimming.
Mazarrón Town Council announced on Friday that both the Ministry’s second official analysis and independent tests commissioned by the council show the water meets ‘excellent’ standards, as defined by Royal Decree 1341/2007. The closure had been enforced as a precautionary measure on Thursday July 3 after faecal contamination levels were found to be slightly above the recommended limits.
The Town Hall thanked residents and visitors for their patience and cooperation during the 24-hour closure, reaffirming its commitment to continuous water quality monitoring and swift action to protect public health and the coastal environment.
Meanwhile, in the municipality of Cartagena, yellow flags are in place on four beaches in La Manga del Mar Menor this Friday – Monte Blanco-Calnegre, Galúa, Sirenas and Entremares – where caution is advised when swimming due to temporarily risky sea conditions. All other beaches in the Region of Murcia are currently flying green flags.
