ARCHIVED - Police probe after Ukrainian woman falls to her death from 4th floor flat on the Costa Blanca
The 45-year-old was alone in the flat in Pilar de la Horadada, Alicante province at the time of tragedy
The Guardia Civil in Pilar de la Horadada has opened an investigation into the death of a 45-year-old Ukrainian woman who fell from the fourth floor of a block of flats.
Initial indications are that the tragic death was an accident and no arrests have been made. The fatal fall occurred at around 12.45am on Tuesday January 17 in Calle Alquerías del Niño.
It's not clear who called the emergency services, but paramedics were soon on the scene. Sadly they could only confirm the woman's death.
According to sources close to the case, the victim was Ukrainian but was not a refugee forced to flee her home country following Russia's invasion of her country. She had reportedly argued with her 19-year-old son earlier, although at the time of the fatal fall she was alone in the flat.
For this reason, any type of violence is provisionally ruled out, pending the results of a post mortem.
