Playa del Puerto, Pilar de la Horadada
A high density urban beach with full facilities
Summer sports competition and children’s play areas next to the shops and restaurants of the town centre
The fine white sand of this beach next to the port, just to the south of the tower, attracts numerous visitors, including those of restricted mobility for whom special access is provided despite the fact that it is a fair way down from the Paseo Sardinero. Sailing courses are organized for summer visitors, and there are also other sports including rowing, diving and fishing. In the summer beach football tournaments are held, and this is one of Pilar’s more “active” beaches! For younger visitors there are children’s climbing frames.
This long beach (684 metres) is especially popular due to its central location in La Torre de la Horadada, and perhaps the only drawback is that you might need to be patient when it comes to parking in the months of July and August: specific beach car parks do not exist here in the centre of the town, and to find a spot not too far from the sand can require some patience!
On the plus side, on the Paseo del Sardinero which runs above the beach there are plenty of places to have a bite to eat or a refreshing drink. The beach is up to 50 metres wide next to the marina, and the golden sands are complemented by generally calm water for ideal safe bathing conditions.
The picturesque Club Náutico is located next to the beach, and the range of sporting facilities and the proximity of bars and restaurants make it one of the most popular and busiest in La Torre de la Horadada. It is also just a short walk from La Torre’s shops and the chemist’s.
Footwashes are provided and the lifeguard post is manned at Easter and every day from the middle of June until 15th September, as well as at weekends until 15th October.
This is a Blue Flag beach.
