Passengers stranded in Murcia after Alicante-Madrid train breaks down
The Ouigo train, which was scheduled to depart yesterday at midday, was suspended at Alicante station due to a ‘technical incident’

This Wednesday January 7, a train journey from Alicante to Madrid was cancelled when operating company Ouigo detected a fault in the train before the journey began.
The train, which was scheduled to depart at 12.39pm had a technical problem that prevented it from running, forcing the service to be suspended a few minutes before the scheduled departure time, according to information provided to passengers by Ouigo employees.
Among the passengers affected were many from the Region of Murcia, who were ultimately stranded after arriving at El Carmen station in Murcia capital city.
The cancellation caused confusion at the station, with dozens of affected passengers waiting for information about possible alternatives.

It came just a day after the Three Kings holiday when many people were still travelling home after the Christmas period, thereby causing significant travel disruption.
At this time, Ouigo has not yet provided details on the extent of the malfunction or how long it will take to resolve, although station staff informed passengers of the service cancellation and the options available for rebooking or ticket refunds.
