Nearly 3.5 million people have had at least one Covid jab in the Valencia region; just over one million in the province of Alicante

The most recent Covid update in the Valencia region reveals 2,060 new cases in the past 24 hours; a similar figure to Thursday’s, which was 2,073.

The cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants in the past 14 days is now 515.09, dropping from 532 on Thursday. The national incidence rate is slightly higher at 591.14, as is the rate in Andalucía (578.65) and Madrid (676.22).

New cases: 2,060 new cases of coronavirus confirmed by PCR or antigen testing, bringing the total number of positives to 476,568 people. By provinces, there were 964 cases in Alicante (170,869) in total); 886 in Valencia (256,402 in total); and 210 in Castellón (49,295 in total).

Active cases: the addition of the new daily cases means that there are now 26,153 active cases in the region, representing 5.36 per cent of the total positives.

Fatalities: there have been four Covid-related deaths in the Valencia region in the past seven days; 7,530 in total since the start of the pandemic.

Hospitalizations: there are currently 622 Covid patients in Valencian hospitals, of whom 113 are in ICU: 171 in the province of Alicante, 31 in ICU; 369 in Valencia, 65 of them in ICU; and 82 in Castellón, 17 in ICU.

Recoveries: 2,914 people have been given the all-clear in the past 24 hours.

Vaccinations: 3,433,250 people have had at least one Covid vaccine and 2,905,978 have been fully inoculated. By province: 344,561 in Castellón, 1,041,416 in Alicante and 1,520,001 in Valencia.

Outbreaks: three outbreaks in the region have 10 or more associated cases, including an outbreak of social origin in Alicante with 12 cases.
