Aemet is warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms, particularly on the coast of Alicante
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) is warning of heavy rain and storm fronts in the Valencia region on Friday October 22, with maximum orange alerts on the coast of Alicante and Valencia provinces.
From early morning through until around 8pm, Aemet has forecast accumulated hourly rainfall of 40mm on the north and south coast of Alicante and south coast of Valencia.
In addition, from dawn until mid-afternoon, occasional heavy or very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms are expected to be locally persistent in the north of Alicante and south of Valencia.
According to Aemet, the picture doesn't look much brighter for Saturday October 23, when there are also likely to be occasional thunderstorms in the southern half of the Valencia region and cloudy skies throughout the day.
