October 5-15 La Nucia celebrates Oktoberfest
The Marina Baixa festival is the oldest in the Valencian Community
Probably the most famous beer festival in the world, Oktoberfest, comes to the quiet Alicante town of La Nucia this Thursday October 5, where thousands of locals and visitors are expected to pack the Bavarian-style tent that has been set up in the car park of the Estadi Olímpic Camilo Cano.
The opening ceremony of the 35th edition of the celebrations begins at 7pm in the huge 2,200 square metre tent and a table can still be reserved on the CCC Association’s website.
Throughout the 11 days, visitors can sample traditional German dishes like knuckle, wurst and sauerkraut, in addition to the world-famous beer of course.
Free entertainment will provided by the German folk music group ‘Steinberger’ and more than 300 kegs of the iconic Erdinger brew have been shipped in for the occasion.
The festival will run between 6pm and 12.30am daily and on Sundays and the public holiday of Valencia Day, until 1am.
According to the organisers, the German community is one of the largest non-national population groups in La Nucia and the beer festival aims to celebrate “German culture and folklore” throughout the municipality.
