October 21 Charity running race in Cartagena to raise funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Association
Races and fun runs for all ages around the Port of Cartagena
The annual 10-kilometre charity running race in the port of Cartagena (CPC 2023) is being held this year on Saturday October 21, with various events ensuring that virtually all members of the family can take part and help raise funds for the local Multiple Sclerosis Association.
Racing begins at 16.30 with events for pram-pushers, under-8s and other age groups, while the main race starts two hours later.
Registration is now open online here, with the inscription fee 6 or 11 euros depending on distance and age group. The main race is over 10 kilometres, where the fee for non-federation members is 13 euros rather than 11, and the route around the eastern side of the harbout of Cartagena can be seen below.
Once registered, participants can collect their provisions bags and race numbers from October 19 to 21: on October 19 from 17.00 to 20.00, on October 20 from 10.30 to 13.30 and 17.00 to 20.00, and on the day of the race from 9.00 to 13.30 and from 16.00 to 18.00.
For non-runners, earlier in the day a walk along most of the route to Cala Cortina and back from the Port of Cartagena starts at 11.00, lasting around 2 and a half bours. This is followed by a pleasurable paella and leisure area for all registered participants!
With over 1,500 runners expected to take part in all categories, this is becoming one of the most important athletics and fund-raising activities of the year in Cartagena, and Mayoress Noelia Arroyo stresses its importance in contributing to off-season tourism.
