Norwegian Costa Blanca School donates 1,200 euros to Alfaz del Pi Food Bank
Den Norske Skole Costa Blanca is the oldest and largest Norwegian school built abroad

Alfaz del Pi's Social Volunteering Association has been given a welcome boost thanks to a 1,200 euro donation by the Norwegian Costa Blanca School.
The association is in charge of the municipality's food bank, which provides support and basic essentials to families and individuals in need.
The donation was made at Alfaz's Cultural Centre following a concert to round-off the school's 50th anniversary celebrations. The proceeds from the sale of programmes, a further 300 euros, will also go to the Food Bank.
Den Norske Skole Costa Blanca is the oldest and largest of all Norwegian schools built abroad, with around 250 young people currently studying there.
The school follows the same curriculum and regulations as the Norwegian Public School System, accommodating students between the ages of six and 17.
When it first opened its doors in 1972, there were just 12 pupils studying at a villa on El Romeral urbanisation, after being approved by the Norwegian Ministry of Education as the first Norwegian school in Spain, and subsequently by the Spanish authorities. Today, the educational centre is located on El Oasis urbanisation.
Alfaz del Pi Social Volunteering Association was founded in January 2013 to assist people at risk of social exclusion.
"The local administration values and publicly supports the effective and discreet work carried out by the volunteers, a group made up of people of different ages and nationalities who dedicate thousands of hours each year to this important work," said Alfaz Town Hall.
