Temperatures will drop on Wednesday in Alicante province only to rise again on Thursday
The heatwave that has sent thermometers through the roof across Spain is expected to subside this week, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), but the mercury will still reach 36°C in Alicante province.
A slight reprieve on Wednesday will be short lived, and temperatures are set to rise again on Thursday.
Light cloud or clear skies are forecast throughout Monday July 18, with little change in temperatures as the mercury is unlikely to drop below 34°C.

Maximum temperatures will remain largely unchanged on Tuesday July 19, although there will be a welcome breeze along the coast and light to moderate southeasterly winds elsewhere in the province.

Wednesday July 20 will get off to a clear start with intervals of low cloud along the coast that will move further inland from midday. The mercury will drop by at least two degrees across the province during the day but there's no let-up to the balmy tropical nights just yet.
