ARCHIVED - New monkeypox cases confirmed on the Costa Blanca
The figure has risen to seven in Alicante and the rest of the Valencia region

As the number of confirmed monkeypox cases in Spain reaches 323, a further three positives have been detected in the Valencia region, bringing the toll to seven.
Until last week, suspected monkeypox samples were sent to Carlos III Institute in Madrid for anlysis, but now the Hospital Doctor Balmis in Alicante is carrying out PCR tests to diagnose patients closer to home and far more rapidly, cutting result waiting times from six days to a matter of hours.
The Hospital General de Valencia has also been designated as a reference centre.
And on Thursday, the regional Ministry of Health confirmed one case in each of the region's provinces; Alicante, Valencia and Castellón.
This is the first positive in the latter after a possible contagion in May - a 22-year-old athlete from Playas de Castellón - was ruled out.
Spain will receive "at least" 10% of the 110,000 third-generation vaccines against monkeypox Imvanex following an agreement between the EU and the Danish pharmaceutical company Bavarian Nordic, of which a further 5,000 will arrive at the end of June.
Symptoms of monkeypox include fever, swollen glands, muscle aches and rashes, and the Ministry of Health protocol states that if someone demonstrates mild symptoms and doesn't require hospitalisation, they must self-isolate. Close contacts don't have to quarantine but should wear a mask and reduce social interaction as much as possible.
