New owner takes over Corvera Golf and Country Club
The Murcia businessman estimates that it will still take several years to reopen the course

After having lain closed for more than years, the Corvera golf course in the Region of Murcia is to be reopened following its purchase by local businessman Fernando Díez, CEO of the company STV Gestión.
There were rumours of the sale of the golf course back in March but the buyer at the time was kept confidential.
It now appears that the sale of the golf course was registered in the Official Gazette of the Mercantile Registry on Thursday May 18 by STV Gestión and just two weeks later – on May 31 – Díez, who is registered as sole administrator of the company Corvera Golf and Services, invested 1 million euros of his own capital into the company, according to local Spanish-language media, with the aim of renovating and revamping the facilities.
STV Gestión is a company based in Torre Pacheco that specialises in providing urban services of all kinds. In the last financial year 2021, the last year for which there are records, the company had an overall turnover of 83.3 million euros and made a profit of 6.4 million euros.
Díez’s aim is to restore Corvera golf course to its former glory and open the doors to golf players and tourists once again. It has been over 10 years since the course was properly cared for, and now extensive reparations and restructuring work will be necessary to bring it up to scratch.
For instance, studies will first have to be made of the plan for the use of water on the course and the relevant licences will have to be obtained. As the project is still at a very early stage, it is unlikely that the golf course will be reopened before 2027 at the earliest.
Explaining his decision to buy the golf course, Fernando Díez stated, “It is a shame that these assets which are so important for this Region are abandoned because they are very important for tourism.
“Luckily, there are always investors who can invest capital to be able to regain their value once again.”
