ARCHIVED - New low-cost Renfe Avlo Alicante-Madrid rail link from March 27 with prices from 7 euros
Large families travelling from Alicante to Spain's capital will be eligible for significant discounts
Renfe's new Avlo low-cost service between Madrid and Alicante hits the tracks on March 27 with tickets on sale from today (March 6) from just 7 euros.
The new service will operate four daily circulations (two in each direction) between Spain's capital and Alicante, offering 1,436 seats per day.
The four routes will stop in Albacete, and two Avlo (one in each direction) will also stop at the Cuenca Fernando Zóbel and Villena Alta Velocidad stations.
And according to Renfe, a new "dynamic" ticket sales system will offer passengers the "best price available for any requested trip".
On top of the base price, travellers can add additional services such as seat selection, changes or cancellations and additional luggage. The base price includes a free cabin suitcase and a handbag.
Children under 14 will pay a basic rate of 5 euros, although this ticket must always be accompanied by the issuance of an adult ticket (a maximum of two child tickets per adult).
And large families will be able to obtain discounts of between 20% and 50%.
Renfe also plans to launch Avlo services in the south of Spain from June, linking Madrid with Seville and Malaga with stops at all the intermediate stations of each of these high-speed lines (Ciudad Real, Puertollano, Córdoba, Puente Genil and Antequera).
Renfe will open the Avlo between Madrid and Alicante on March 27 with prices from just 7 euros and tickets available on the Renfe website.
There will be four Avlo trains in the southern corridor: two between Madrid and Seville (one in each direction) and another two between Madrid and Malaga, although the schedules and stops have not yet been confirmed.
