The Murcia-born tennis champ Carlos Alcaraz Garfia has won his third Masters 1000 tournament, the Indian Wells, and regained the title of number 1 in the world from Novak Djokovic, just six months after he became the youngest ever world number 1 last September.

On paper, in what was a complicated match against Russian Daniil Medvedev in the final of the US tournament this Sunday, Alacaraz needed just an hour and ten minutes to take his opponent down in style.

Alcaraz lost to Rafa Nadal in the semifinals of the 2021 Indian Wells tournament, but this year he managed to complete a perfect tournament, winning all his matches without dropping a single set.

The native of El Palmar in central Murcia now joins Nadal as only the second player in history to win three Masters 1000 titles before his 20th birthday.
