ARCHIVED - Murcia Covid update October 15: 579 active cases in the Region
The 7-day incidence rate in Murcia has increased slightly
The Ministry of Health reported 59 new Covid cases in the Region of Murcia, more than double the number reported on Wednesday October 13, which was 26, but the slight rise in daily Covid figures has not yet translated into a rise in the 14-day cumulative incidence rate.
Hospitalisations and active cases
In the past 24 hours (Thursday October 14) there have been two further hospital admissions and one more patient has been taken into intensive care, leaving the total number of people hospitalised with Covid in the Region at 45, of whom 11 are in intensive care. An additional 534 patients are in isolation at home, meaning that there are currently 579 active Covid cases in Murcia.
Recoveries
Since the update released on Thursday, which corresponds with Wednesday’s figures, 60 people have been declared Covid free, making the total number of recovered patients 139,092.
Fatalities
Thankfully, no deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours and the death toll in the Region of Murcia remains at 1,744.
Cumulative incidence rate
Since Monday’s update, October 11, the cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants in the past 14 days has decreased by 1.4 points: dropping from 46.8 cases to 45.4. However, the cumulative incidence rate in the past seven days has registered an increase, up from 21.7 in Monday’s update to 23.1 in the latest update. This rise is a consequence of the slightly higher figures in the past few days.
Vaccinations
In total, 2,217,769 vaccines have been administered in the Region so far, meaning that 90.83% of the population have received at least one jab while 78.45% have been double-jabbed.
Outbreaks
A notable Covid outbreak has been detected this week at the Rafael Méndez hospital in Lorca, where nine patients and four healthcare professionals have tested positive. The hospital has restricted visitors’ access for 15 days while the centre gets the outbreak under control.
