Municipal sports facilities in Guardamar del Segura
The sports centre is just a few metres from the Playa Centro in Guardamar
The main sports complex, or “polideportivo”, in Guardamar del Segura is situated just inland from the northern end of the Playa Centro in the town centre, between Avenida de Cervantes and Avenida de Europa.
Among the facilities here are four tennis courts, two padel tennis courts, a gym, a weights room, a squash court, a frontón court, a tatami for karate and two outdoor multi-sports courts and pitches (basketball, five-a-side football, etc). In addition, there are two large swimming-pools. The indoor pool is named after Manel Estiarte, Spain’s most famous water polo player, and the other in the open air is open only in the summer. Both pools also have children’s areas.
The indoor sports facilities are housed within the Palau Sant Jaume, which is fully equipped with changing rooms, showers and cafeterias, and another bar-café opens in the summer next to the open-air pool.
The sports complex is open to the public in the following timetable:
Mondays to Fridays: 9.00 to 14.00 and 17.00 to 22.00
Saturdays: 9.00 to 20.00
Sundays: 9.00 to 14.00 and 18.00 to 20.00
Telephone: 966 726335 (Palau Sant Jaume and open-air pool), 966 726593 (Manel Estiarte indoor pool)
Another complex, named Las Rabosas, is located just out of town on the other side of the N-332 road, next to the old course of the River Segura. This includes the stadium which is home to the local football team, but is not normally used by members of the general public.
