May 8 VE Day 80th anniversary celebrations in Camposol
Camposol commemorates the 80th anniversary of VE Day this Thursday with a tribute to the heroes of World War II featuring music, memories and a moment of silence
Camposol will mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day on Thursday May 8 with a commemorative event on Sector B, outside Bridie Murphy’s bar. Hosted by the ever-popular local DJ Bernie Mac, the celebration will begin at 1pm with a one-minute silence in honour of all those who served during the Second World War.Bernie, dressed in partial wartime uniform, will set the tone with a playlist of 1940s classics, paying tribute to the spirit of the era. Attendees are encouraged to bring photos of family members who served in any branch of the armed forces during WW2 to share their stories and remember their contributions.
VE Day commemorates Germany’s unconditional surrender to the Allies on May 8, 1945, ending years of conflict in Europe. The Camposol community is invited to come together in remembrance, with music, memories and light-hearted moments provided by Bernie’s familiar humour.
