March 20 to 29 A fishy gastronomic special at 14 restaurants in Águilas!
Águilas celebrates the local fish farming industry with a corvina salmon-bass special
The gastronomic calendar of Águilas continues to provide special occasions for those who enjoy the local produce and cuisine, the latest event being 10 days of gastronomy between 20th and 29th March featuring the locally farmed “corvina” salmon-bass as a star ingredient.
The event was presented by the local eateries association Hosteaguilas on 11th March at the home of the Culmarex company, which operates the fish farming concerns just off the Águilas coastline, and celebrates the “corvina” farmed so successfully in the area for the last 30 years. 14 restaurants are taking part, each offering a different gastronomic take on the fish through both traditional and innovative recipes, with prices varying from one establishment to another: some are main courses while others are small tapas.
On the final day of the event, Sunday 29th March, there is a chance to take a boat trip at 12.00 midday and see for yourself the offshore facilities of the company in a guided tour explaining how the operation is managed and of course with a tasting of the end result! This trip is on board the Don Pancho boat and is a joint venture with Restaurante Punta Negra, costing 10 euros – this price is available at the restaurant for all those showing their boat ticket.
Reservations are available by email at info@hosteaguilas.com.
The restaurants taking part are Tiburón, Barr6, Ginés, Mi Barquito, La Taberna Mediática, Varadero, Tumaca, Ramonetero, Casa Bartolo, Zoco del Mar, Costa Azul, Pecado, Centro de Interpretación Cuatro Calas and Punta Negra, and each of them will display a QR which enables you to see all of the dishes offered.

Águilas boasts 28 kilometres of coastline, with many fine, sandy beaches, sheltered coves and unspoilt natural beaches. It is a great summer favourite with Spanish holidaymakers, so always has a superb programme of concerts and activities throughout the summer, as well as the biggest carnival in the Region of Murcia, 40 days before Semana Santa (Easter.)
Throughout the year it also has a number of museums and historical attractions, a castle with fabulous views overlooking the bay and several other points of interest, all of which make it an good place to visit for days out. Throughout the year the tourist office runs monthly guided tours and the route of the railways, which explores the railway history of the town.
The tourist information office is located in the Plaza de Antonio Cortijos, just a short walk from the sea front and Plaza de España, a cool, shaded space in which to enjoy a coffee.
