ARCHIVED - Man drowns at Benidorm beach on the Costa Blanca
The victim was pulled unconscious from the sea at Poniente beach in the Marina Baixa, Alicante province.
In another beach tragedy on the Costa Blanca, a man drowned this morning, Monday, June 28, at Benidorm's Poniente beach.
Lifeguards performed basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers on the victim after he was pulled unconscious from the water at around 10.40am, before a SAMU ambulance medical team arrived.
Medics continued with advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other stabilisation techniques, but there was no response, and the man, whose age has not been revealed, tragically died at the scene.
A post mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of the drowning - the 10th on the Costa Blanca since mid-May.
After 12 months in place, plots dividing Benidorm's beaches to ensure social distancing were removed on Saturday, June 26.
