Man arrested after dismembered body of his mother found in Malaga home
68-year-old woman discovered dead inside her house; son detained while walking through the streets with an axe

The National Police confirmed on Wednesday April 23 that the man was taken into custody after being spotted in the street carrying an axe. Several neighbours had alerted the authorities after seeing him in public with the weapon.
The incident took place on Calle Proa in the Los Prados area of the city’s Cruz de Humilladero district. According to sources close to the investigation, the victim had likely died several days earlier, and her son is suspected of dismembering the body.
The National Police said that the man, who may suffer from mental health problems, lived at the property with his mother. An autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause and time of death.
The case is now being handled by the Homicide Unit of the Málaga Provincial Police Station. Officers have stressed that the investigation remains open and that no further details will be released until the post-mortem examination is complete.
The woman had three other daughters and neighbours have described a tense relationship with her son. It is said that she had previously tried to remove her son from the home, although he would often return. Others claimed he frequently argued with his mother, caused damage to the flat and shouted at her regularly.
The National Police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and that the results of the autopsy are still pending.
