ARCHIVED - Lorca bus station gets a much-needed makeover
The facilities at the bus station had barely been updated since it was built in 1990

After renovation work began on the Lorca Bus Station last November, the transport hub in the Murcia city is now looking more modern and has better facilities than ever.
The first phase of the remodelling has been completed, which consisted of rearranging the bathrooms, repainting the outer pergola covering the platforms and fixing the drainpipes and guttering to avoid leaking.
In addition, the lighting has been changed to LED, new exterior signage with night lighting has been installed and the signs on the platforms have been replaced and upgraded.
The Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, said, “The comprehensive remodelling of the Lorca Bus Station was more than necessary, since the station was inaugurated in 1990 and very little renovation work done had been since its inception.”
Work to make the bus station more modern and accessible will continue, and is expected to be fully finished by next year.
