July 8 Antonio Serrano Cuarteto and Dianne Reeves at the 25th San Javier Jazz Festival
The master of the jazz harmonica and one of the great jazz vocalists at the Parque Almansa auditorium in San Javier
ANTONIO SERRANO CUARTETO
Harmonica player Antonio Serrano’s connection with the San Javier Jazz Festival goes back many years, ever since the great Argentine guitarist Luis Salinas asked for him to be a special guest at his unforgettable concert during the very first 1st edition. Salinas told the organizers he was “as good as Toots Thielemans", and since then he has performed in San Javier with José Reinoso and Miguel Poveda, Ignasi Terraza, Carles Benavent, Kirk Lightsey and many others.
Antonio is the undisputed harmonica master of jazz, blues, flamenco, tango and classical music, and together with Olivier Ker Ourio and Grégoire Maret is one of the three greatest virtuosos of the chromatic harmonica in Europe. His versatility and absolute mastery in each of the aforementioned musical styles is unparalleled in the world.
DIANNE REEVES
In 2018 Dianne Reeves was named by the National Endowment for The Arts a “Jazz Master,” the highest honour awarded in the US to jazz artists. A 5-time Grammy winner, her brilliant improvisational skills and unique and unmistakable jazz and R&B style have made Dianne Reeves the world's foremost jazz vocalist.
Critics have acclaimed her as a continuation of a beautiful trend in vocal jazz which also includes Sarah Vaughan, Betty Carter and Shirley Horn, and to see her name on the bill in San Javier is a true privilege. She won the Festival Prize here in 2015 and is now visiting for the fourth time: another great night is guaranteed!
This sixth concert of the 2023 San Javier Jazz Festival begins at 22.00 in the open-air Auditorio Municipal in Parque Almansa with tickets priced at 35 euros. Season tickets are also available: for bookings and further information click here.
