ARCHIVED - Incidence rate rises 140 per cent in a month: Valencia Covid update November 12
The 14-day cumulative incidence rate across the region, including Alicante province, has soared to 77.23
A Covid rebound in the Valencia region has seen the cumulative incidence rate leap 140.52% in a month, reaching 77.23 cases today (Friday November 12), above the national average of 71.50.
Back on October 15, the rate stood at 32.11 cases, and has continued on an upward trend since, with the region's Ministry of Health today confirming a further 408 new infections in 24 hours.
Health Minister, Ana Barcelo has once again called for "prudence", and a new awareness campaign has been launched to remind the public of anti-Covid precautions and exemptions from mask wearing.
New cases
A further 849 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours, up from 346 cases reported last Friday but more than 50% less than at the start of the week, bringing the total number of positives since the beginning of the pandemic to 519,174. By province: 92 in Castellón (55,419 in total); 157 in Alicante (190,282) and 159 in Valencia (273,472).
Recoveries
308 people have recovered from Covid since the last update, meaning that to date, 518,923 people in the Valencian region have overcome the virus. By province: 55,134 in Castellón; 189,847 in Alicante; and 273,886 in Valencia. There remains 56 unassigned recoveries.
Hospitalisations
There are currently 214 people admitted to hospitals in the three provinces,four less than at the start of the week, 39 of whom are being treated in ICUs (three less): 58 in the province of Castellón, six in the ICU; 83 in the province of Alicante, 24 in the ICU; and 73 in the province of Valencia, nine of them in the ICU.
Fatalities
There have been three reported deaths which occurred in the last seven days. The Ministry of Health has confirmed the victims were aged 73, 81 and 88-years-old. The fatalities means the total now stands at 7,874 since the start of the pandemic: 862 of these deaths have been recorded in Castellón; 3,024 in Alicante; and 3,988 in the province of Valencia.
Vaccinations
A total of 4,082,801 people have received one dose of vaccine, and 4,048,266 people are now fully immunised with two doses of Pfizer, Moderna or AstraZeneca, or the single-dose Janssen.
Active cases
According to the latest data, there are currently 3,821 active cases in the community, which represents 0.72% of the total positives.
Outbreaks
There have been three outbreaks with 10 or more associated cases:
Ontinyent, 11 cases of occupational origin; L'Alcúdia, 10 cases of social origin; and Valencia, 11 cases of educational origin.
