ARCHIVED - Incidence rate drops almost 50 points in a week: Valencia Covid update September 17
The positive trend continues in Alicante province and the rest of the region on the Costa Blanca
The latest update from the Valencia region’s Ministry of Health shows a continued positive trend in terms of health data with fewer hospitalisations and new cases, though there have been seven reported Covid-related deaths.
The 14-day cumulative incidence rate has fallen by almost 50 points to 65.45 cases per 100,000 people (as of Thursday September 16), compared to 112.21 a week ago, below the national average of 96.30, and that of Andalucía (83.35) and the neighbouring Region of Murcia (94.03).
New cases
On Thursday September 15, a further 345 Covid cases were reported in Valencia region. This is down slightly from the 361 cases reported on Wednesday and brings the total number of positives since the beginning of the pandemic to 507,276. By province: 35 in Castellón (52,602 in total); 171 in Alicante (185,767 in total) and 139 in Valencia (268,905 in total). There remains two unassigned cases.
Recoveries
623 people recovered from Covid, meaning that to date, 507,605 people in the Valencian region have overcome the virus. By province 52,900 in Castellón; 185,100 in Alicante; and 269,548 in Valencia. There are 57 unassigned discharges.
Hospitalisations
There are currently 222 people admitted to hospitals in the three provinces, down from 232 on Wednesday, 54 of whom are being treated in ICUs: 38 in the province of Castellón, six in ICU; 98 in the province of Alicante, 27 in ICU; and 86 in the province of Valencia, 21 of them in ICU.
Fatalities
There have been seven deaths – six in the last seven days, and one which occurred in June – four more than were reported on Wednesday, meaning the total now stands at 7,752 since the start of the pandemic: 841 of these fatalities have been recorded in Castellón, 2,966 in Alicante and 3,945 in the province of Valencia.
Active cases
According to the latest data, there are currently 3,371 active cases in the community, which represents 0.65 per cent of the total positives.
Outbreaks
Since the last update, there have been no outbreaks with 10 or more associated cases reported.
