ARCHIVED - Iconic Pascual Flores ship to return to home port in Torrevieja following European tour
The floating museum was visited by more than 3,000 people in five days during its stay in the Vega Baja, Alicante province, over the summer
The historic and recently restored Pascual Flores ship will return to its home port in Torrevieja next month following a tour of European cities in which it was visited by almost 12,000 people.
The floating museum docked in Torrevieja at the end of June, its first stop on an international tour of European waters as a travelling ambassador of the tourist and cultural heritage of the municipality.
And in the space of just five days, 3,000 locals and tourists alike hopped on board for a tour.
The ship then set sail to Germany, making several stops through different Spanish ports along the way, before heading to France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
In August, it took part in the Bremwehaven Maritime Festival, along with other great and iconic ships from around the world.
“In October, the Pascual Flores will once again arrive in Torrevieja, but before that it will participate in the Escala a Castellón Maritime Festival,” confirmed the local council, adding that it is likely to remain in Torrevieja for Christmas.
The pailebote was restored and returned to its former glory last November by the Nao Victoria Foundation, a non-profit organisation which makes and restores replicas of historical boat and galleys.
